In a shocking development, a sixth standard student hired a taxi and slit the throat of the driver under the influence of a Telugu film. This incident took place in Nellore district.
As per the sources, the boy watched Prabhas starrer 'Rebel' the other day and decided to re-enact one of the scenes in the film. He got down from the school bus midway saying he wants to visit a temple and then purchased a shaving blade in the market.
The boy then hired a taxi from a travel agent in Gudur promising that his parents would pay the fare and took the taxi driver through several streets. After sometime, he got down from the vehicle and threatened the driver to leave the place without demanding the fare. As the driver didn't obey, he slit his throat and injured him badly. Locals who watched this scene caught hold of the boy and rushed the driver to the hospital.
When questioned by the police, the boy told that his intention wasn't to hurt the driver but re-enact a scene in the film where the hero threatens a taxi driver and drives away with the vehicle. This is another instance to show the influence of films on common audience.
